One of the Plane trees has had a large branch removed after massaria was spotted during an inspection in late February. The offending branch was removed and all our other planes trees were promptly inspected but received the all clear.

Massaria is a fungus that attacks London planes trees and can lead to branches dying and dropping to the ground unexpectedly, hurting people or causing damage to property. For this reason the spread of massaria is being closely watched throroughout London’s plane tree population.

2013/14 Accounts

The audited final accounts are now available for the period ending March 31, 2014.

We are in an acceptable position financially due to the efforts of the committee to keep expenditure to a minimum for the past two years. Our aim is to have a reserve of approximately one year’s expenses on hand to deal with unforeseen expenses such as irrigation, emergency tree surgery or garden shed repairs.

2013 Christmas Carols Party

We had a great evening last Tuesday at our annual Christmas Carol party. The weather was mild and many dropped in once they heard the  Salvation Army Band get going shortly after 6:45. A crowd of at least fifty enjoyed the mince pies and excellent mulled wine.

A dozen or more soldiers from the Blues and Royals stationed at Hyde Park Barracks joined us in uniform and a few were even persuaded to try some of the mulled wine.

The mulled wine was courtesy of Marianthe and Jane Bradbury of Number 39 with Neil Carthy adding some support.

We raised £1,483 for charity: 60% going to the Salvation Army fund for the Homeless and 40% to the Household Cavalry Foundation. Continue reading 2013 Christmas Carols Party
